#VOOM 2016 has kicked off today. Fourex previous winners, couldn't be more excited!
Are you ready for #VOOM 2016? You better be, as Virgin Media's juggernaut pitching competition rumbles into town this week.
#VOOM offers plucky start-ups and growing companies the chance to share in a £1m prize fund and run a crowdfunding campaign with the kind of exposure and positive brand association that most companies can only dream of. The competition highpoint will be a chance for six finalists to present their game-changing idea in ‘Pitch to Rich’, a chance to pitch live to Sir Richard Branson in June.
We’re big fans of #VOOM, not least because our client, Fourex, were 2015 winners of Pitch to Rich. Fourex directors, Jeff Paterson and Oliver du Toit asked us to create a brand identity to launch their pitch and crowdfunding campaign for their innovative self-service, multi-currency kiosk. Fourex allows users to quickly change foreign currency into sterling, dollars or euros completely free of charge.
Our approach was to develop a brand with bold colours, strong typography and universally accessible messaging. The success of the kiosks relies on conveying the essence of this new and disruptive offer to consumers quickly and in a fun way at busy, fast-paced locations like train stations and shopping centres with a high consumer footfall. We also used our knowledge and expertise in supporting brands through equity crowdfunding to produce Fourex's pitch video, their website and the graphics for the kiosk screens and casing.
Since the triumph at last year’s #VOOM Pitch to Rich finals, we’ve continued to manage Fourex’s site and brand strategy – and they have started as they mean to go on by being very busy!
They installed the first kiosk at Blackfriars Station in November last year, followed by two at King’s Cross and one at Westfield Stratford in December. Just these kiosks have racked up a massive 10,000 transactions to date. The next locations for kiosks will be London Bridge station and a second machine at Westfield Stratford.
